This week, Curbed LA takes a look at hotels around town as part of Hotels Week. To chip in, Eater examines some of the best restaurants inside hotels and highlights the food coming out of their kitchens.

But in L.A., restaurants need to serve more than eggs Benedict in the morning to be relevant. Hotel chefs have the opportunity to highlight the unique cooking that's endemic to L.A., with farm fresh produce and polished techniques. Herein, Eater presents some of the best hotel restaurants in Los Angeles.

The traditional and modern takes on Spanish cuisine by chef Joshua Whigham is marked by the tomato and watermelon salad and the Yukon gold "gnocchi," along with Jose Andres' classic Philly Cheesesteak with air bread.

Wolfgang Puck's streamlined steakhouse inside the Beverly Wilshire is still one of the best places to get steak in the city. Executive chef Ari Rosenson makes Wagyu beef short ribs with Indian spice for something a bit less conventional. The bone marrow flan is still the appetizer to get.

Chef Ray Garcia makes sure that all of his produce comes from the nearby Santa Monica farmer's market, and the freshness of everything on the menu shows at this restaurant inside the Fairmont in Santa Monica. The lunch sandwiches are great, as is the pasta-less lasagna.

Chef Stephan Kalt's market-driven menu at this restaurant inside the Thompson hotel has dishes and styles from all over, but the result is something polished and well-conceived. Menu highlights include salmon caviar latkes with creme fraiche and roasted duck breast with gaviota strawberries.

Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air

Wolfgang Puck's refined restaurant inside the Hotel Bel-Air does high-end takes on the chef's Californian cuisine, as executive chef Sonny Sweetman does dishes like the sweet pea tortellini, Alaskan halibut with baby asparagus and spring pea ragout, or Cantonese roasted duck with cherries, pea tendrils, and Schechuan pepper.

Chef Mette Williams handles the kitchen at this classy, modern Italian restaurant inside the Four Seasons on Doheny. She makes a great crab and herb ricotta tortellone as well as Amanranth Chitarra pasta using tomatoes, capers, olives, basil, and chili.

Chef Tim Goodell's enduring burger joint inside the Hollywood Roosevelt still makes massive handheld meals any time of the day in a bordello-type room that's always full of energy. The Number One burger is still the best order on the menu, along with the boozy shakes.

Chef Mirko Paderno does a fine job with classic Italian cuisine in a stylish environment spread out along the bottom floor of the Avalon Hotel in Beverly Hills. His risottos are nearly perfect.

Bar Marmont

This dark celebrity hangout inside the legendary Chateau Marmont has a surprisingly good pub menu. The burger is probably the best thing to order.

Wolfgang Puck's Asian-influenced restaurant on the 24th floor of the Ritz Carlton in Downtown boasts one of the best views in the city. Prawn toast, chicken dan dan noodles, and whole roasted duck are the menu highlights.

This Moroccan restaurant with modern digs inside The Redbury has a myriad number of mezzes and small dishes that use plenty of unique spices, including the chickpea fritters, roasted lamb, and chicken tagine.

This farm-to-table all-day restaurant inside the Orlando Hotel has lost a little steam from chef turnover of late, but the familiar cooking is a respite for those overwhelmed by the number of restaurants on West Third. The breakfast dishes are worth getting.
