Today, math geeks and pie lovers unite: It's March 14, or 3.14, and since the pronunciation of this (?) Greek mathematical symbol is the same as the sweetest emblem of Americana, it's high time to eat some pie. To commemorate this, one of the best days of the year, how about a handy Eater map of LA's best pie? Find our picks below, and feel free to leave the name of your favorite slice in the comments.

Celebrate Pi Day with Los Angeles' Best Pie

simplethings Sandwich & Pie Shop
Strawberry season is back, and simplethings is celebrating with pie in all sizes, including their famous cutie pies (tiny, single-sized bites), filled with saucy berries, pillows of whipped cream and a nutty crumble. Check their website for the day's flavors.

The Pie Hole
While they sometimes sell classics like double crust apple pie, it's their riffs on American classics that set The Pie Hole apart. Think: swoon-worthy creations like ginger-caramel and grapefruit curd. Ask about the fresh blackberry pie this summer.

Heirloom LA
Follow @heirloomLA to find the truck for a daily fix, or pop into Silverlake Wine for dinner to see if pie is on the menu. Owner/Pastry Chef Tara Maxey makes some of the best pie in town, and if she had a pie shop, it would be full of fan favorites like chocolate truffle and caramel pie with sea salt; fresh strawberry pie; and Tara's personal favorite, blueberry pie.

Republic Of Pie
This popular NoHo shop is where to find a classic slice of lemon meringue, apple, berry, pumpkin or pecan done well.

Proof Bakery
Proof Bakery's pastry chef Na Young Ma makes dainty, French-style tarts daily, but every now and then she also makes pie. The quiche is also excellent.

Sweet Lady Jane Bakery
Sweet Lady Jane's pies are not for the faint of stomach. This is a monster slice of pie, with a cookie-like crust and miles of filling. The tart cherry, with berries bursting out at the seams, is a clear favorite.

Huckleberry Cafe & Bakery
Pastry chef Zoe Nathan has taken what is essentially as rich and perfect as chocolate pot de creme and, get this, put it in a buttery pie crust. And we all win.

The Hart + The Hunter
By now, everyone knows to get the biscuits at this new, highly rated Melrose hot spot. But they should also order the Lemon Ice Box Pie. So unlike most cloying lemon meringues, this is a creamy lemon mousse topped with lightly toasted, marshmallow-like meringue.

Jones
Jones on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood seems to do a decent job at most everything except their apple pie. That's because the apple pie is possibly the best thing there. It's served in a fajita pan, and brought, still sizzling, to the table. Do they fry it in butter? Possibly? Hopefully.

Brite Spot Family Restaurant
Today only, get pie at Brite Spot for $3.14. Allow us to recommend Patricia's Honey Pie, which is a type of Chess Pie. It's a lot like pecan pie, but without the pecans.

Cooks County
There's often a pie on pastry chef Roxanna Jullapat's menu at Cook's County, her restaurant on Beverly Boulevard. Whether she's celebrating cherries or chocolate, the crust is a wonderful blend of flaky and buttery.

The Apple Pan
Apple Pan's signature pie is a 1950s-style, shortening crusted specimen filled with saucy apples. They almost force the ice cream on the side. And while butter is better, Apple Pan's pie is served piping hot, with cool vanilla ice cream on the side.
