Bean and cheese burritos are more than just the simple distillation of Mexican/Tex-Mex food, poured into a pliant flour wrap. They’re practically a cuisine unto themselves, with nearby fan favorites offering starkly different takes on the sturdy mix. What do they all have in common? Flavor, and price point.

For around $5 (and often much less), bean and cheese burritos are a built-in satisfier, hitting every density and flavor metric possible. Outside of the ubiquitous $1 taco, there are few greater options for dining so cheaply, and so well, in Los Angeles.
