Though ownership has changed over the years, the overall quality at this beloved East Hollywood breakfast nook (with a delightful patio) has remained the same, which means expert eggs benedict (smoked salmon is an option), and terrific omelets, steel-cut oatmeal, and grits. Bruce Marder's casual breakfast and lunch spot is the "affordable" way to get access to the ingredients and cooking of next-door Capo, the high-end Italian restaurant. The lovely wrap-around patio suits the high-quality plates coming out of the ktichen, like Wagyu steak & eggs, artichoke tarragon omelette, vegetable frittata, and blueberry buckwheat pancakes.

Neal Fraser's enduring all-day restaurant on Beverly still does a respectable breakfast (bld stands for breakfast, lunch and dinner). There's a number of different benedicts, like the Ode to Butterfield's, which is a flat-iron steak with poached eggs and a cabernet hollandaise.
