Where to Watch Live Music in LA Restaurants and Bars
For music-goers seeking a side of food and drink along with live entertainment

Bandera
The low-key restaurant owned by the Hillstone Restaurant Group might be the best thing to happen to the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Barrington Avenue. Most passerbys sitting in rush hour traffic might overlook this sophisticated, dimly-lit restaurant because of its hidden signage, but the all-booth spot is always bustling with the sizzling sounds of rib-eye steak hitting the grill in their open kitchen and a live jazz ensemble playing seven nights a week.

Vibrato Grill
Vibrato Grill might be off the beaten path but the music venue is well worth the windy drive through Beverly Glen. Founded by popular jazz musician Herb Alpert, the Glen Centre jazz club features live music six nights a week with a variety of performers and jazz veterans like vocalist Brenna Whitaker to special guests like Seth MacFarlane. The mostly American dinner menu has a variety of interesting options for vegans like a coconut curry and a jambalaya.

The Wellesbourne
The Wellesbourne has been a longtime favorite watering hole for Westwood residents and UCLA students ever since it opened in 2010. Tufted leather couches, high wood beam ceilings, and bookcase-lined walls make this spot look like Ernest Hemingway’s home library. The Wellesbourne is best known for its laundry list of craft cocktails made with fresh ingredients and live music playing every Wednesday from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.

The Culver Hotel
It’s only fitting that the 1920s hotel offers live jazz music in their Grand Lobby after 7:30 p.m. every night of the week. The historic hotel with its mismatched antique chairs and handcrafted cocktails are reminiscent of the Jazz Age with a range of jazz performances throughout the week from traditional to modern and even swing. First-come, first-serve so get there early and take advantage of happy hour from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Friday with food and drink specials.

Delilah
The modern Art Deco supper club in West Hollywood features live performers and Sunday Jazz from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. on a small stage while guests enjoy dinner. The swanky lounge features plush seating options good for large groups and pays homage to the 1920s with its crystal chandeliers, golden accents throughout the space, and an American menu with classics like shrimp cocktail, deviled eggs, and a slew of meat options.

The Parker Room
Named after the legendary jazz musician Charlie Parker, The Parker Room, is located in the heart of Hollywood and is the original location of the famed jazz club Billy Berg’s. Photographs of jazz icons are hung on the walls of the cozy bar and live jazz music plays every Tuesday night from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. The menu features light bites like brussels sprouts in a truffle cashew cream, breaded calamari, tacos, and The Billy Berg’r topped with a fried egg.

La Descarga
Blink an eye and it’s possible to miss this Havana-inspired rum bar, but don’t be fooled by the unassuming exterior of this Hollywood speakeasy. Behind the doors (and doorman) is an intimate and lively bar playing Latin music while patrons sway their hips salsa dancing and a cigar lounge tucked away in the back. A sexy burlesque show happens on the hour, every hour from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Thursday to Saturday evenings with scantily-clad women dancing on the spiral staircase. On Tuesday and Wednesday nights, there is a live salsa band from 10:30 p.m. to 1:15 a.m. with burlesque shows at 11 p.m. and 12 a.m.

Seven Grand
Every night of the week, the DTLA whiskey bar invites local indie bands, jazz and blues groups, and Celtic folk artists to perform from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Sip on a rare or premium whiskey, smoke a cigar at Bar Jackalope tucked away in the back, and play a few games of pool for an entertaining evening all around.
