Does the mere thought of walking through the candy heart-lined walls of drug stores make you gag? The barrage of Valentine's Day Black Saturday dining guides got you feeling blue? Well boo to all that Cupid nonsense; there's a better way to party.

While most restaurants are celebrating the worst dining day of the year with overwrought menus and expensive parties, a few clever institutions are embracing Singles Awareness Day with specials meant to ensure that no lonely hearts will be found. Beelman's Pub

In true celebration of being single in the modern day, Beelman’s Pub and Spring St. Bar are throwing a joint Tinder Valentine’s party. All three locations of Plan Check (Sawtelle, Fairfax, Downtown) will offer a special double menu for Valentine’s Day. While there is one for lovers, the Anti-Valentine’s menu is much more, well, pungent. Think dishes like Beast Fries with Americanized dashi cheese, bacon thousand island, and schmaltz onion; 5 Onion Burger with roasted onion spread, pickled onion, onion sprouts, fried onions, schmaltz onion, and melty swiss; and Drunken Bread Pudding with white brandy hard sauce.

One of LA’s oldest bars is hosting a S.A.D. (Singles Awareness Day) party on from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Singles will be anything but sad with a DJ spinning unromantic tunes and themed cocktail specials such as $5 “Bitter” Old Fashioneds, $8 Black Velvets (champagne with Guinness), and $5 Fireball shots. Furthermore, a $30 “Cheap Date” menu for two will feature two Tom Bergin’s Burgers, two orders of shoestring fries, and two cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon presented in a champagne bucket of ice.

Bacari PDR’s Anti-Valentine’s Day for singles will feature a special happy hour from 5 – 11 p.m. with $6 small plates and $8 specialty cocktails like the “Love Me Tinder,” made with a spicy infused vodka, grapefruit and lime juice, dry curacao, fallernum liqueur, and cranberry and lime bitters.
