Often, a great night out in Los Angeles
involves multiple stops, each one offering its own trove of tempting libations. It's no wonder we've all been guilty of having one too many. Find yourself regretting it the morning after? Don't. We've compiled a list of the best ways to ease the morning after aches and pains, leaving you ready for another night of bar hopping.
The Morning After: LA's Best Hangover Cures
Often, a great night out in Los Angeles
1. The Sycamore Kitchen
The $10 Scrambled egg and chorizo sandwich, with melted Swiss cheese and caramelized onions will make you forget everything that happened last night.
2. Casa Vega
The Machca con Huevo, a relatively new dish on the menu, combines shredded beef, salsa, eggs and tortillas. The shredded beef is stewed in a savory sauce with just the right amount of fat to soak up your sins.
3. Du-par's Restaurant & Bakery
Du-par's serves its pancakes with melted butter - an entire bowl of melted butter. Allow us to recommend bacon on the side.
The PIGG breakfast sandwich from Chris Cosentino is not something you want to eat when you're still drunk. It's messy. But the combination of pig ear bacon and sausage patty, along with the strange sounding maple-poached egg is just right for the empty hangover tummy.
5. Pa-Ord Noodle
Los Angeles, CA 90027
Pa Ord is good any time of day, and for any meal, but it feels especially good after a long night of drinking. The broth will rehydrate while the herbs and garlic wake up your senses.
6. BLD Restaurant
There are a lot of hangover appropriate dishes at BLD - the massive blueberry pancakes, the crispy-crunchy egg sandwich - but the restaurant actually recommends the meaty Breakfast Hash for a cure. It's a crispy pile of potatoes and bacon topped with eggs and Hollandaise. Glorious, buttery, creamy Hollandaise!
7. Café Gratitude
It's called, "I am sustained." While eating this, you will regret everything you did the night before. After eating it, you might feel like a new person.
8. Freddy Smalls
The slow egg panzanella comes highly recommended at this spot, known for its greasy (but often tasty) bar food.
9. Pressed Juicery
No need to go on a full juice cleanse after one night of debauchery. Pressed Juicery's Citrus #4 has everything you need to feel better the morning after: aloe vera, cucumber, pineapple, lemon and coconut water.
10. Luca On Sunset
Luca on Sunset brews their own kombucha. On Saturday and Sunday mornings there's actually a line for the stuff.
11. The Hudson
You will drink to much in West Hollywood. You will pass out in your car, a la Lindsay Lohan. You will crawl to The Hudson to get a hangover burger.
Anything off the breakfast menu will do, though the Huevos Rancheros is especially popular. The best thing about this place is that you can look like you have not yet had a shower and the servers will still be nice to you.
13. M Cafe de Chaya
The Breakfast Enchilada is a quick and super healthy way to recover after one too many tequila shots.
14. In-N-Out Burger
Perhaps the most quintessentially LA hangover cure: In-N-Out's Animal Style burger.
There's a spicy, homey porridge served here that's popular among locals and food critics like Jonathan Gold.
16. Loteria Grill
Santa Monica, CA 90401
The chiliquiles verdes at Loteria are soft, crunchy, savory, creamy and, topped with a fried egg, perfect for curing a hangover.
17. Stella Rossa
Santa Monica, CA 90405
Stella Rossa isn't the place you want to go the next morning unless you can manage to brush your hair or just happen to look like a model right out of bed - everyone, including the chef, is gorgeous. In the event that you're feeling pretty enough, the croque madame will cure your headache.
18. Doña Rosa Bakery & Taqueria
Pasadena, CA 91105
The pozole is the star here. It's a hominy stew with meat and vegetables, and can be made spicy in case you need an extra kick.
19. Mas Malo
Malo's fried beef & pickle tacos are legendary, but don't forget that they're great while drinking, after drinking and the next morning, when you don't even want to think about drinking.
20. Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles
Is it the best chicken & waffles in town? Maybe not. But it's the only one served with an ice-cream-sized scoop of butter on top. Don't think too hard about it, just eat it.
Pasadena, CA 91103
The most requested item on Saturday mornings at Russell's is the corned beef hash. They fry the potatoes in a mixture of butter and canola oil, which gives them perfectly brown edges while the insides stay soft and pillowy. The salty corned beef is slow-roasted separately and comes mixed in on the side.
